This is very much a confidence building session for those new to machine sewing and all your questions will be answered

These are regular classes where you can machine sew to your 'hearts content' in the knowledge that Nicola is always on hand to offer guidance and tuition in whatever you are sewing.


You can bring along your own work or choose from some of the samples on show in the studio


Whether you're a beginner or improver to patchwork & sewing there's plenty of samples and ideas around the studio to tempt you, from cushions, purses and bags to wallhangings and full size bed quilts!

Sampler Quilt Course

for Beginners

Starting on Friday 22nd September 2017

10.00 to 1.00pm

Course fee £135 (part one)


During this course (part 1) you will learn how to make 9 different patchwork blocks, each teaching a different technique. You will receive individual attention and gain lots of confidence in your ability with plenty of encouragement and tips along the way!


Following on from this, you will then have the opportunity to book a follow on course (part 2) starting in January 2018, where you will complete a further 3 blocks making 12 in total and then learn how to 'layer up' and quilt your finished blocks before making them up into a quilt using the 'quilt as you go method'


You may make up any missed sessions on alternative days during the dates of your course however they but cannot be carried forward to other course dates.

Dates will be offered subject to availability.


Parts 1 & 2 of this Sampler Quilt course consists of 18 x 3 hour sessions in total

Course fee (part 1) £135  - £75 deposit on booking with the balance due on the 1st week of the course

'Celtic Colour'

Experiment with blending and toning two colour families to give a soft, flowing wask of colour to your background patchwork.Simple machine stitching is used to assemble the patchwork. Celtic symbols are created using painted Lutradur in colours that are sympathetic with your patchwork and then cut out and applied to the background. An interlaced Celtic design drops down the side of the border using iron-on bias. Over the course Pat will cover aspects of colour and how to arrange your fabrics to create an uniterrupted flow of colour, how to mix paints and apply them to the Lutradur to harmonise with your work, and a variety of stitching techniques applicable to the project. No artistic ability is required! The finished size of the project is adaptable in length to suit.

Machine Applique' - Flower Garden

Enjoy a lovely fun day designing your own 'garden of flowers'. 

Choose some lovely scraps of fabric and then learn how to arrange your flowers and leaves before bonding them to your background fabric.

 You will then learn how to use a variety of machine stitches to decorate and secure the edges of the shapes.

As well as being fun, this is a a great class for building confidence in using your sewing machine

Learn how to make this lovely applique' butterfly panel using Bondaweb and fabric in colours of your own choice. Finish the raw edges of the butterfly using the decorative stitches on your machine.

On this workshop you will learn how to use your sewing machine to do 'free motion' stitching. This is very much a fun practice session designed to give you the confidence to enjoy the liberation that free motion stitching brings.
