 Whether you are a complete beginner to sewing or someone looking to improve your skills, you can be assured of 

a warm welcome here at Simply Stitch.

I offer a wide range of workshops and courses where you have the opportunity to learn, explore and develop your skill

 in a variety of techniques and styles.

All workshops and courses are suitable for beginners unless otherwise stated. 

Class numbers are tailored to the subject allowing for individual attention.

Regular Embroidery Classes

Tutored by Nicola

These regular classes are designed to suit beginners and improvers and will take you 'step by step' through your chosen project. Occasionally a particular project will be advertised which you can choose to stitch or alternatively, continue with something you have already started working on

You can expect expert tuition with lots of tips and advice, as well as enjoying a great hobby

The variety of projects available include:

  • Crewel Embroidery

  • Stump work (raised embroidery)

  • Silk Shading

  • Traditional Embroidery

Sample are available to view in the studio

Regular Patchwork Classes

These regular classes are designed to suit beginners and improvers and will take you 'step by step' through your chosen project.

You can expect expert tuition with lots of tips and advice, as well as enjoying a great hobby......but be warned....patch working is seriously addictive!

  • Learning how to use your sewing machine

  • Cushion making including zip insertion

  • Throws and table runners

  • Quilt making from simple 'blocks' up to a full size sampler Quilt

Westalee Ruler Course with

Angela Attwood

3 days - 3rd to 5th March 2020

Angela Attwood will be joining us again to teach a 3 day course; Free Motion Quilting with the Westalee Rulers.

Westalee rulers can transform your free motion quilting by enabling you to undertake creative free motion quilting in a controlled way on your domestic sewing machine. Using the rulers will help you stitch a large range of beautiful patterns and designs, to complement your quilts.

On the first day of this course (beginners day) several elements will be covered including, attaching the Westalee foot and setting the height correctly, holding and using the standard ruler to good effect and using the ruler markings.

On days 2 & 3, Angela will be teaching her Sampler Course where you will use the rulers from the beginners day plus Sampler Set 1 rulers. You will learn lots of new designs/techniques with the rulers.

Terms of Booking:

Once enrolled, the workshop fee is non-refundable in part or full unless your place can be filled from a reserve list. Please note that any unpaid balance will still become payable if you cancel unless your place can be filled from a reserve list.

 

Westalee ruler requirements:

You will need the Westalee Ruler Foot starter kit and the Sampler Set 1 to attend this class.

You will receive an offer code so that you can order your rulers from The Cotton Patch with a 10% discount.This code will be made available to you for online purchases a few weeks prior to the start of the course and will remain valid for 2 weeks after.

How to book you place:

A deposit of £70.00 is required to reserve your place .The balance of £100.00 will be invoiced 6 weeks before the course start date.

Dry Felt Landscape

Spend a therapeutic day learning how to design your own landscape picture.

Nicola will guide you through the simple technique of 'dry' needle felting; how to prod, sculpt and create texture using Merino wool and textural threads.

Elephant on Parade

2 days - 22nd/23rd April

Experiment with Indian Block Printing using a variety of wooden blocks to create your own printed fabrics from which you will then cut the component pieces for your appliquéd elephant. You can then assemble the ceremonial elephant and set him on a background. This elephant can be stitched, beaded, sequinned and braided to great effect. If workshop time allows we will start the day by experimenting with the blocks and inks by printing onto a calico bag that I will supply. There will be a small fee for the use of my blocks, inks and calico bag.

Decorative Machine Stitching

Spend a relaxing 2 days exploring and learning how to use your sewing machine beyond straight stitching.

You will learn how to use the decorative stitches on your machine confidently and combine them with applique, couching, and much more.

Your finished panel could be made into a lovely cushion with a mitred border
